Two statues stand at either end of a valley. Whoever breaks the other's first wins. Miners dig your gold; you spend it on an army of up to five hundred, from sixteen kinds of warrior: swordsmen, spartans, locked-shield hoplites, pikemen, berserkers, archers, crossbowmen, catapults, horsemen, war elephants, giants, healers, shamans, assassins and scouts.

No single army wins. Pikes stop charging horses and elephants dead, crossbow bolts punch through shields, a hoplite wall shrugs off arrows until you flank it, catapults flatten towers but die to anything that reaches them, shamans stop your healers, and assassins hunt your miners until a scout finds them. You only see what your soldiers see, and the enemy warns you before each big charge, so scout, read their army, and build the answer.

Arrange your formation in rows, split the army into groups and order each to attack, hold, retreat behind your statue, flank, or guard the mines. Forge upgrades, raise towers and a palisade, fight on hills, rivers and bridges, and take direct command of any soldier. Thirteen campaign battles end against the Troll King.
